Tamasin Knight spoke about the recently developed Hearing Voices app. It is targeted at students of health and social care, aiming to develop their understanding of the experience of voice hearing. It includes information, podcasts and links to resources but perhaps the most innovative element is its use of simulation exercises. View a video about the app.
We had a wide ranging discussion about how the app might be disseminated in a higher education context, including to those concerned with student mental health. It was felt to have wider relevance too, including for service users/survivors, friends and family members.
Mention was made of other apps for use in teaching. For example Social Work and Social Media, developed by Tarsem Singh Cooner at the University of Birmingham.
